Sermon (video): The Believer's Greatest Secret Weapon (Matthew 6:5-8)

The first century Christians and church knew what it was like to experience the power of God working through them to push back the darkness and increase the Kingdom. Yet, Christians and churches in America know little of that power. Is it sheer coincidence that those early believers prayed often and our prayer meetings are so poorly attended?

This sermon will encourage you to make prayer a greater priority in your Christian walk. Click here to view the sermon.

Sermon (video): What Motivates You? (Matthew 6:1)

So you are a serious follower of Christ and engage in a lot of good deeds and Christian ministries? That's commendable. But, did you know that Jesus is more concerned with why we do what we do than He is with what we're doing?

Matthew 6:1 begins a section of Scripture where Jesus speaks often of eternal rewards. It is in this verse that He tells us that if we aren't properly motivated when we do our "good deeds", we'll forfeit the eternal rewards we could have received.

This is a very serious biblical principle that will have eternal ramifications.

Sermon (video): Be People of Truth (Matthew 5:33-37)

As Christians, we are called by Jesus to say what we mean and mean what we say. In short, Matthew 5:33-37 calls us to be honest.

But, I wanted to show in this sermon that we must also make sure that we speak the truth in love, that we know what the truth is by studying God's Word, and that we develop toughness to experience the consequences of speaking the truth in love.

Sermon (video): The Dangers of Adultery (Matthew 5:27-32)

Everyone is generally in agreement that adultery is wrong. But what about wondering eyes? What about lustful thoughts? As long as we keep it to ourselves and aren't hurting anyone else, it's not wrong, is it?

In Matthew 5:27-32, Jesus not only tells us that looking to lust is wrong, He shows us in a mind-blowing way just how serious it is.

Sermon (video): The Christian and Their Bible (Matthew 5:17-20)

In a recent Lifeway Research study(http://bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=38659), it was discovered that only about 19 percent of church attenders read their Bibles every day. Only 26 percent read it a few times a week.

How essential is it for Christians to spend time in God's Word? Judging from what Jesus said in Matthew 5:17-20, it is absolutely vital for the Christ-follower.

Sermon (video): "Citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 4:12-17)

Do you ever feel like there's more to the Christian life than what you're experiencing? Do you sense that there is something in your life that may be holding you back from God's best for you? It could be that you aren't living as a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven.

This sermon explains: 1) what the Kingdom of Heaven is, 2) why it is such incredible news, and 3) how we must act to enter and live in that Kingdom.

Sermon (video): A Powerful Illustration of God's Love for You (Matthew 3:1-17)

You've read through Matthew 4 before. You're familiar with the story of Jesus' baptism. But unless you really dug deep in your study, you may have missed some absolutely incredible principles ... especially the fact that Jesus' baptism was a powerful illustration of God's love for you.

Sermon (video): Behold, He Prays (Acts 9:11)

In Acts 17:6, it says that the first century church "turned the world upside down." Things have definitely changed, haven't they?

Now, most people in our communities can't even tell us where our church facilities are located if you were to ask for directions.

So, what's the answer? Throw our hands up in despair and say that God is through with our communities and country? Hardly!

We just need to rediscover what the first century church did that freed God to move powerfully through them. Only then can we expect God to once again move powerfully through.

Sermon (video): Nine Things We Lose When We Fail to Enjoy God

If you're satisfied with the fact that you're saved and want no more of God than you already experience, then this sermon was preached with you in mind. In fact, if you don't consciously enjoy God, I imagine that this sermon may completely change the way you look at your standing with Him.
Here's my request: Will you watch the first 8 minutes and then decide whether to keep watching? At that point, you can turn it off if you want.

This sermon is a bit lengthy. Yet, I noticed that almost everyone in the congregation stayed tuned in and were actively taking notes during the whole sermon. I believe this sermon touched a nerve and the Holy Spirit was driving the truth home to all of our hearts.

Sermon (video): Six Ways to Enjoy God (Psalm 63)

The Old Testament hero, David, would one day be king ... but, not yet. In Psalm 63, he has been chased into a wilderness by Saul, the reigning king, who felt threatened by this young man and would rather kill him than yield his throne to him. It is remarkable that in this Psalm and given this undesirable context, David shared with us some very practical ways to enjoy our great God.

If you think that enjoying God is something "extra" to the Christian life, think again. It may be a very clear indicator of whether or not you are a child of God.

Sermon (video): Enjoying Our Great God (Psalm 37:4)

How can something so basic to true Christianity be so foreign to many of our experiences? God has made us with a craving to be happy and to find that need for happiness met in relationship with Him. Yet, all too often, we fail to enjoy the relationship and settle for a lifeless religion.

Watch this introductory sermon, preached on February 5, 2012, to see how vitally important this truth is to your daily walk. You will also be inspired to pursue a satisfying love relationship with your Heavenly Father.

Filling My Mind w/the Word

I absolutely enjoy walking for exercise. I experience many health benefits from this practice but in so doing, I enjoy knowing that I also am engaged in an activity that Jesus did often. He had no public transit system at His disposal when He traveled. He didn't have a personal vehicle. No plane or train. In fact, the only time we're told that He ever did anything except walk was when He rode into Jerusalem just before His crucifixion.

As I walk, I find that it eats up much of my time and so I've learned the benefit of listening to sermons and Christian media. I almost always have my mp3 player with me loaded with sermons from one of my favorite preachers, John MacArthur. His websight allows for free download of thousands of sermons.

Those sermons can be accessed at: http://www.gty.org/Resources/Sermons.
