What is takes to change the world

DAILY BIBLE READING:

1 Chronicles 12:19–14:17
Romans 1:1-17
Psalm 9:13-20
Proverbs 19:4-5

BIBLE VERSE(S) FOR TODAY:

Romans 1:8 (CSB) "First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because the news of your faith is being reported in all the world."

REFLECTIONS ON TODAY'S BIBLE VERSE(S):

Rome was THE city in the 1st century. It was where Caesar ruled and "all roads led to Rome."

This city was strategic in getting the Gospel to the nations. If the Good News of Jesus Christ could take root in Rome, it could spread much more easily to the rest of the world.

But, that's just theory. It's just possibilities. If the Christians in Rome didn't take their faith seriously and share it with others, it wouldn't have mattered. The message of the Gospel would have died with them.

Fortunately, from our Verse for Today, we read that the Christians in Rome were devout. They took their faith seriously. In the face of persecution, their allegiance to Jesus was clear. They were unabashedly sharing their faith. And as multitudes arrived and departed from Rome, the Gospel was going into the rest of the world.

Friend, I've got two questions for you:

  • Is your devotion to Jesus so obvious that others see Him in you?
  • Are you so "sold out" on Jesus that you readily share the Gospel with others?

Both of these two questions need a "yes" answer if we are to impact our culture like the Christians in Rome.

If our devotion to Jesus is luke-warm at best, people won't want what we've got.

If we aren't sharing the Gospel, they will never hear about what Jesus did for them.

So, ask God to help you love Him more and more. Fan into flame your love for Him, your submission to Him, and your obedience to Him. And, out of the overflow of a life that is sold-out for Jesus, share with others what you've got.
